CBS-Rocketboom Part of CSI-"Killer" 2.2.06 by Jerry Bruckheimer
Last night on CBS' #1 show on all of TV, CSI, Amanda Congdon appeared in a FAKE Rocketboom from above the Las Vegas Strip warning the locals not to go where two were recently murdered in the same evening. You can't buy this kind of publicity. Yes it's not a REAL Rocketboom episode. And neither are the murders REAL. This is another classic moment in the evolution of Video Blogging and product placement publicity. Congratulations Amanda and Andrew Baron of Rocketboom and thank you Jerry Bruckheimer, Executive Producer, for placing them inside an episode.
This is from an EyeTV2 HDTV source recording and is Video iPod compatible.

NBC Most Happy Fun Exciting Buzzy Thrilling History Lesson
Steve - "...and you kinda get video for free as a bonus."
Continuous Caption: Handheld TV - New iPod Plays Video
Anonymous Consumer in Apple Store - "I've actually been looking for something that I could play video on." Really? Steve had no idea...
Omar Wasow, Technology Analyst - iPod has gone from an early adopter technology buff market to a Mainstream Mass Market phenomenon now a part of our culture.
Alexis Glick, this story's reporter, says you have to watch video on the 2.5 inch screen which is not necessarily the case. You can watch on your TV and you can watch on a video headset or external portable TV with a bigger screen - can you say light FLAT screen?.
Alexis - "Their new test is to find out if people will buy video they have to watch on a two and a half inch screen."
Steve - "There is no market for video on the go today. So we're going to have to create it."
Let's be clear Alexis. THIS IS NOT A TEST. There is no downside for Apple to add video playback capability for no more money and 50% more space at the $299 price point. You get a free video with every album you buy. We Video Podcasters have a way to reach the consumer like never before. And you broadcasters have a way to sell shows after they air in a new window between original air and rerun then DVD. You can Video Podcast the Today Show WITH advertising included for FREE and sell that market to your advertisers for a small premium or others who will pay less for VidPodcast ONLY ads.
The revolution will be Video Podcast and is being vlogged as you speak. You do NOT have to watch videos on the 2.5" screen. There IS A GIGANTIC MARKET for video on the go today. And Apple is NOT going to have to create it. What Apple is doing is providing the solution to a long standing challenge. And that is huge. Kudos to Apple. I love Apple. But the market has been getting PREGNANT with anticipation for this solution for years. Remember ARCHOS? It is like an iPod only too big and heavy with a minimal Mac interface.
I will be very surprised if Apple will be able to keep up with demand for these new iPods before sometime next summer, IF THEN. I think there is going to be a waiting list from here into next Spring at the soonest. It will be a case of capacity incapable of meeting demand for a long time.
Affordable technology and our new inexpensive broadband internet distribution system has just now fallen into place. So it's really the synergy of pent up demand meeting new affordable technological advances - not Apple creating a market or doing a test.
Thanks to Al Roker for ordering his last night. You the man Al.
Matt Lauer's close - "I know it's going to be huge. Absolutely. Everything they do is huge right now." You took the words right out of my mouth Matt.

CBS Early Show Pitches TV Shows For Sale, Falling Apple Stock & A Way To Lose Your Sight

Steve didn't even mention there are already thousands of video podcast posts in the iTunes Podcast Directory to help sell the reason to buy a video capable iPod now rather than until movies are for sale next year which Jeffries & Company analyst Adam Benjamin posed is a reason consumers may not buy one yet.
This is the first of three broadcast reports I am posting today with comments about each one. Details of Steve's Presentation will follow tomorrow with a PDF full of links to Apple's many pages of descriptions.

CBS Features Rocketboom Leading Vlogger Revolution • Andrew Baron Admits $25-A-Day Expense • Amanda Congdon Shines • Jim Axelrod Giddy With Exclusive
I love CBS and I admire Les Moonves. He has already declared the CBS News division is being mobilized to become primarily an internet news source rather than a TV one. That takes a similar kind of vision that Axelrod tells producer Andrew Baron he has. Andrew is incredibly modest and calm. What a rock. Amanda Congdon is the height of low key. She's really a dream anchor - so incredibly mature, modern and sophisticated yet youthful and fancy free.
I made a Quicktime Movie version from the CBS Real Player with Snapz Pro X v2.0.2 for compatability purposes only. R. Buckminster Fuller: “Everything I Know” - Audio/Video of the January 1975 historic 42-hour session! . . . . . . . VOD only
The universe of audio and video will always have all sorts of lengths, sizes and qualities among its parts. There is no right or wrong on this subject. I do think shorter is generally better for most things - especially in this early stage of internet distribution. However . . .
I am so thrilled to have just found this classic R. Buckminster Fuller Series from January 1975. I knew him personally so this is a huge find for me. And I cannot stress enough how important I think it is that all persons watch and or listen to all 42 hours of it. This is MUST SEE TV for every generation. Thank you so much for mentioning it Steve Watkins.
The Real Player series is handing off sockets every minute. I have never seen video distributed this way before. I guess you can stop it any time and pick up where you leave off by keeping the individual part of the string - sort of like a series of little chain links - on your desktop. Very interesting. Wonder how they do that and why? The player keeps handing off to 1-1.5 minute segments while remaining the same name between each thought he states. And the video gets very interesting as the editor or the director used the blue screen to project more than one shot of Bucky simultaneously while he was talking. Can't tell if that was done in post or during the recording. And Bucky directing the director - this is CLASSIC!!!
I think Bucky was the original inventor of the Internet. He was the first person to imagine and postulate the concept of a global interconnected network of computers sharing information for resource re-delegation. However his concept was not at the desktop level because that was beyond his ability to imagine. I took him to Apple to meet Steve Jobs back in the 70's and he thought the Apple computer was "just a toy". He wound up being too old to fathom what we have today. But I did imagine it beyond his mainframe network concept. I tried to tell him this was going to happen but he didn't get it cause desktops were still too weak then.
Thank you so much Steve Watkins. Bucky video for FREE! This is another internet miracle. Wow!! the quality of this video is amazing considering when it was recorded in January 1975. I am totally blown away. Thank you soooooo much. I am crying. Bucky is my #1 all time hero.
I will definitely be watching all 42 hours of this set MORE THAN ONCE. And I will be listening to the audio on my iPod even more times. Every minute is a mind blowing experience for me.

Video of the Moment posts "Fishes" on iTunes
"Fishes" is a brilliant essay on the reality of DEATH as a FACT-OF-LIFE by Lan Bui of Orange California.
I recommend subscribing to the new "Video of the Moment" PodCast at the iTunes' Podcast Directory. Keyword "Video".
Welcome to PodClips
I just had to grab it while it's still out there. Great idea here at Podcast Alley's Video Podcast section. So I am following them. Thanks Podcast Alley. They list 49 Video Podcasts thus far. Each PodCast has numerous PodClips associated with it. This blog is for and about individual PodClips that we will notice within the wide variety of Subscription Video Podcasts.
For example Mark Rinehart's "Jumper", featured on the Monday August 1st Tonight Show with Current_'s co-founder Al Gore as guest, is an outstanding PodClip that you con only view online thus far at the Current_ features page. Current_ is only Internet VOD or via traditional satellite & cable sources thus far. Al called each clip "Short Form Pods". I dont' see how the Current_ "leadership", or more accurately "followership", will be able to resist Video Podcasting for more than a few weeks. It will be interesting to see how long they wait to execute that phase of their operation - particularly in light of Al Gore's position as one of Apple's board members. In fact it is quite astonishing that they didn't have Current_ Video Podcasts up Monday to launch simultaneously with the traditional systems. What's up with that?
Check out the new FREE turorials from the Maine Media Arts Project up on iTunes 4.9 now. They started with a Final Cut Pro lesson #1 Monday August 1st. But they also have some other PodClips they created in July up there for manual catch-up downlaods.
Just found a two minute PodClip from InFlight on iTunes tonight:
